Our special orders require 50% deposit with the remaining balance due to AK Design when the merchandise is ready to ship.

AK Design and Accents is not responsible for collecting or submitting sales or use taxes for any states other than the state of Michigan. The customer is responsible for making sure all required taxes are paid.

SHIPPING AND DELIVERY
We will ship your order using the fastest, safest, and most reliable method possible.
To keep your shipping cost down and still keep your purchase safe, we use a variety of different shipping services depending on the manufacturer and size of the item shipped.
Most accessories and accent pieces are shipped directly from the factory stock. We avoid the overhead of keeping a large inventory, that way we can offer you lower prices.
Small Parcel
Whenever possible we will ship smaller, lighter, items via UPS, FEDEX, DHL. Depending on how close you are to the shipping warehouse, your item, if in stock, will arrive between 7 to 10 business days.
We do not require an adult signature for deliveries, but please note that the decision to leave your package without a signature is at the discretion of the delivery person. If you want an item left at your doorstep, the best thing to do is leave a note on your door asking the driver to leave your package with “No Signature Required.” Be sure to include your name and tracking number on the note.
Truck Freight – Back of Truck
Many items we sell are too large or too heavy to ship using a Small Parcel carrier. Therefore, our best option is to ship it to you using a common carrier. Truck freight is different than standard UPS, FedEx, or US Mail in that you will be responsible for carrying the product from the back of the truck into your house. Truck Freight also differs from Small Parcel in that, for residential deliveries, you will be contacted by the shipping carrier to schedule a delivery appointment. Most companies offer appointment windows usually 2-4 hours between 8:00 am and 5:00 pm EST, Monday through Friday.
The most important thing to remember about truck freight is that you must inspect the package at the time of delivery. If the box has any damage, or if there is any reason for you to be at all concerned about damage, please write “PRODUCT DAMAGED” clearly on the sheet that they ask you to sign.
Truck Freight Threshold
This method is just like "Truck Freight – Back of Truck" (see above), only the truck freight company will deliver your order to the threshold if yours is a residential delivery (this means to your garage or front door), or to the loading dock if yours is a commercial delivery. Unfortunately, they are not authorized to perform any assembly services nor can they put it in the room of your choice. Once we email you the tracking information you can contact the shipper directly to arrange for any additional services that you would like. You will be responsible for directly paying the truck freight carrier for these additional services.
White Glove, In-Home Delivery
When your order arrives at the delivery agent closest to your home or office, you will be contacted by a scheduling clerk for a delivery appointment. The appointment is typically a 2- to 5-hour window, Monday through Friday during regular business hours. Saturday deliveries are not always possible.
White Glove service includes a two-man delivery to inside your residence to the room you choose. This service includes carrying the product(s) up two flights of stairs from the building’s threshold (4-15 steps = 1 flight). If you need the product moved up additional flights please contact us*. Once the product is in the room you desire, the shipper will unpack the product and provide light setup that requires basic tools (i.e. pieces will be screwed or bolted together, set pieces next to each other, or on top of each other). The shipper will also remove and dispose of all packaging.
*In all cases the shipper will not hookup any electrical or component wires. Having items carried up more than 25 steps and longer assembly periods are available as additional services which would require additional charges. Please contact us if you feel you need these services.
One other important thing to remember about white glove freight is that you MUST inspect the product and any packaging you see at the time of delivery. If there is any damage to either the product or the package, or if there is any reason for you to be at all concerned about damage, please write "PRODUCT DAMAGED" clearly on the sheet that they ask you to sign. This simply insures that if there is any damage, it will be easy to take care of the problem.

WHEN WILL MY ORDER ARRIVE?
Accessories, Lighting, Accent Furniture
We ship our products from all over the country and from overseas. Every product on our site has an estimated Lead Time – the number of business days it takes for an item to be processed and prepared for shipment at the warehouse. Some warehouses stock items that can be shipped the same day or within 24 hours. Other require a longer time.
For Small Parcel shipments (see above) like accessories, lighting, accent furniture, delivery takes between 1-10 business days for the in stock items.
Furniture and Special Order Items
Because we order your furniture direct from the manufacturer after you place your order with us, shipping times can vary tremendously.
In stock furniture usually arrive between 7 –14 days.
Most custom furniture orders take between 6 to 12 weeks to ship. We will give you an estimated time of delivery after the factory acknowledges our purchase order.
Keep in mind, however that we cannot guarantee the delivery times and cannot be responsible for delays or changes in schedule.

RETURN POLICY
General returns
Any item on our website (see furniture exception below) can be returned for a full credit as long as we receive the item back to AK Design and Accents no later than 10 days from the day you received your order. Shipping charges are not refundable and will be deducted from your credit. For a full merchandise credit, please follow this procedure:
- Package in original packaging or in a way to ensure safe transportation. Include a copy of your invoice and send to:

We will inspect the return and issue a credit on the same card that you used to make the original purchase.

Furniture returns
We will accept returns on furniture that are in their original condition, but outgoing shipping charges and return shipping charges are not refundable and will be deducted from your credit. For full credit on a piece of furniture, please follow this procedure:

Special Order Items
Returns, cancellations or changes on special orders will incur a 15% restocking fee. Returns on delivered orders will incur return delivery costs, and original delivery charges are not refundable. Credit card or gift card orders will receive a credit; orders paid by check or cash will receive a refund check.
DAMAGED ITEMS
If you notice the damage while the driver is there, please mark the item “damaged” and refuse the shipment. Please write damaged on the area where the driver asks you to sign your name. When the item is returned to us, we will credit you accordingly.
If you notice the damage after the delivery driver leaves, please send us email to info@akdesignandaccents.com stating your name and invoice number.

WARRANTIES
Any product warranty is provided by the manufacturer and is generally limited to defects in materials and workmanship. Contact us for a copy of any such manufacturer's warranty or for information about the Protection 1st warranty program.
Any manufacturer's warranty begins when your merchandise is delivered. AK Design and Accents will not be responsible for any indirect, special or consequential damages. Most manufacturer warranties cover the item only and do not cover any shipping costs or labor.
While we try to provide you with the best quality images of our merchandise and fabric choices, please understand that resolution and color reproduction varies from computer screen to computer screen. If you're trying to match a special shade, fabric, or color in your room, we'll be happy to send you a free swatch of fabric or sample of wood so you can make sure your new furniture will complement your existing pieces.
